Puppy Socialization Program

Socialization Done Right!

Not sure how to get your puppy started off on the right paw? Let the Puppy Specialists help!

We at Bark U specialize in early puppy development and socialization. Time and time again we see clients attempting to socialize their dogs but doing it incorrectly. This can lead to problematic issues in the future. Starting your puppy off right and socializing them is the absolute most crucial part of raising a puppy. You only have one chance to do it so make sure it’s being done right!

Our puppy program is based off of the Out and About Puppy Program which is a nationally recognized training, socialization and enrichment program for puppies under 6 months, that was developed by my mentor, Liz Maslow. Having worked and trained with Liz and seeing the amazing results of the puppy program, I decided to adopted this program and offer it to my clients.

As Liz explains,

“Shaping a puppy into an adult dog with the behaviors and temperament needed and wanted is a complex task. Raising a puppy correctly is necessary if we are to maximize the puppy’s potential. Providing a safe stimulating environment is vital to having a well-adjusted adult dog. The window of time in a puppy’s life that determines who they will become as adult dogs is called the Socialization Period, the first 15 weeks of a puppy’s life. The temperament, character and behavior habits of a puppy are developed during this socialization period and will last a lifetime. Puppies must be exposed to a wide array of smells, textures, surfaces, sounds, vibrations, tastes and sights, including and especially a comprehensive variety of people.”

The eight-week long Socialization Puppy Program does just that! It stimulates the five senses of your young dog. Puppies will be exposed and desensitized to sight, sounds, smells, tastes and touch of everyday life. Each day will be filled with new, socially appropriate, dogs and new experiences to enjoy. Your puppy will get a chance to play with other puppies of the same age (depending on vaccinations), begin to gain self-control and learn how to follow basic commands in stimulating environments. By providing your puppy with plenty of correct social experiences your puppy grow into a well-mannered family companion.

This eight-week long program is offered 2-3 days a week for puppies 10 to 16 weeks of age.
